Gifted Adolescents' Perceptions of Their Roles in Nation-Building

Young people in Singapore have been urged to take an active interest in politics and nation-building. A survey was carried out on a sample of gifted adolescents to find out their perceptions of the expectations from self, parents, classmates, school and society in nation-building. The results show that the gifted adolescents wanted and were quite sure that their parents, school and socity expect them to excel in academic studies and eventually to have a comfortable professional practice. They showed reluctance in taking on a political career but showed interest in social issues, national and international affairs.  相似文献

The link between recreational book reading and improved literacy performance is consistently supported by educational research. Increasing engagement in recreational book reading remains imperative for English teachers, though how to best facilitate this in a secondary context is an object of contention, with limited research in this field. The West Australian Study in Adolescent Book Reading explored attitudes and engagement in recreational book reading. Student responses provide valuable insight directly from the target group that can help to shape best practice for adolescent literacy educators. Findings are presented around six key themes, and include strategies for choice, access to attractive and diverse books, time availability, time allocation, concentration and encouragement.  相似文献

The main purpose of this study was to assess the effects of doodling on the learning performance of high school female students in Tehran. The design of this research was a pre‐test–post‐test with a control group. A group of 169 junior high school 12–13 year‐old students was chosen for this study. After being taught a section of the Natural Science course, the students were asked to answer questions related to the lessons. After that, their grades were used as the pre‐test scores. The post‐test was carried out after the devised treatment. During ten sessions of the same course and teacher, the students were each given a blank sheet of paper and were asked for doodling if they felt like doing it. After each session, a couple of relevant written questions were asked to evaluate how well students had learned the lessons. The experiment and control group both consisted of 27 randomly selected students; participants in the experiment group were doodlers and those in the control group did not doodle. To evaluate the doodling effect a t‐test analysis was performed. Comparison of the grades showed that the experiment group outperformed the control group significantly.  相似文献

Relationship between Perceptions of Control and Victimization of Chinese Adolescents

This study explores perceptions of control in victims of school bullying, by surveying 108 adolescents with questionnaires. The result shows that there are significant gender differences in external control in general, internal control of sociality, and victimization of physical bullying. Physical victimization decreases as subjects grow older, but unknown control increases. Social victimization is positively correlated with all factors of external control. Verbal victimization is positively correlated with factors of external control of sociality, general and average; and negatively correlated with factors of internal control of sociality and physicality. Victimization of property bullying is positively correlated with average external control. External control is a predictor of victimization of social, verbal, and property bullying; internal control of body is that of verbal victimization. 留守青少年自立人格特征研究

通过对留守儿童大省的416名农村青少年学生进行问卷调查并对典型个案进行访谈,探讨了留守青少年自立人格的现状,分析了留守状况对青少年自立人格的影响。认为留守青少年较易形成不良的自立人格,同时留守青少年内部存在较大的个体差异;父母外出时儿童年龄、父母外出年限、父母双方谁外出、看望间隔和打工态度等五个留守因素相互影响,共同影响留守青少年的自立人格的形成,可以解释29%~49%自立人格变异。  相似文献
